The CLO Impact Index: A New Benchmark for L&D Leaders

The pressure on L&D leaders to demonstrate measurable business impact has never been greater. Yet, many still lack a clear framework to evaluate their performance and align with global standards. That’s where the CLO Impact Index comes in; a free digital assessment designed to help L&D leaders benchmark their organisational learning maturity and identify areas for growth.

In a recent interview, Cathy Hoy shared how the Index addresses this critical gap. “It’s about moving beyond traditional learning metrics like course completions and satisfaction scores,” she explained. “To operate at the C-suite level, L&D leaders need to focus on business metrics things that truly drive organisational strategy and growth.”

The Index evaluates L&D leaders across five key pillars, including business alignment, AI fluency, executive presence, evaluation and marketing learning. It not only provides an immediate snapshot of capability but also contributes to quarterly trends reports, offering valuable insights into industry benchmarks like budget sizes and strategic priorities.

For organisations, the results serve as both a mirror and a guide. “It’s not about maturity levels,” Cathy emphasised. “It’s about identifying where to focus, levelling up in areas that matter most, and tracking progress over time.”

Whether you’re looking to validate your impact, identify gaps, or plan for the future, the CLO Impact Index is a powerful tool to help L&D leaders stay ahead in a rapidly evolving landscape.
